We hired a tuk tuk to drive us around the city for two hours as after no sleep the night before all were tired.
We climbed up to see the temple at the top.
At the top there were people selling birds that you could purchase to release. Tiny ones up to pigeons. A Buddhist tradition but it’s complicated as many animals are trapped simply to be released again and the worry is about introducing non native species. We skipped this.
Independence Monument celebrating freedom from France in 1953. I think it interesting to note the tuk tuk and the 4 wheel drive. We are seeing quite a few imported expensive cars here but the bulk are still older types and motorbikes.
And government hall (our driver said main political building) which was right next to an enormous casino that was three times the size of this. The driver said the casino brought in more money than politicians!
